Dallas and me.

Let's face it. We are starving for attention... the kids get it all. So what do we do? We leave on a date, take random pictures of ourselves, and then post them all over the blog :)

On Saturday we went to see Brian Regan. It was the best date ever. An hour and a half in the car alone, a FUNNY show and then another hour and a half in the car alone. Ahhh. We sure needed a night out and it was great. Over 5 hours of being kid free... we love the kids, but it's sure nice to get some Dallas and me time. Brian Regan is HILARIOUS. We just about died laughing that night, it was great. We have been wanting to see one of his shows for a few years now and it was totally worth it. Loved it.

2-9

Dallas and I usually keep our birthday's pretty low key... stay at home with the kids, eat dessert together, watch a movie. This year at the last minute we decided to invite some neighbors over to roast marshmallows and just hang out. It ended up being so much fun, I am so glad we did it! It might have to be a new tradition for Dallas' birthday.

Dallas thought he was so tough being the only one not wearing a jacket... crazy.

It was such a fun night! The weather was perfect for a fire, we got rained on at the end but it turned out great.  (Excuse the blurry photos... I was being a stubborn photographer and didn't want to use the flash.)

Dallas now has one year left to enjoy his 20's. We are going to start it off by going to see Brian Regan at the end of the month. Dallas was pretty surprised to see that he got tickets and not just some boring socks that he needed (I am so sneaky!)...

Daddy's boy

The wheels in Evan's mind are constantly turning. He wants to learn everything and all at once. He is really good with numbers (where did he get that I wonder...?) and so naturally math just clicks for him. He learned to count by 5's when Dallas taught him to tell time. So sometimes we'll ask him "What's 3x5 or 5x5" and he can figure it out. Sometimes he uses his fingers and sometimes he does it in his head.

These past few weeks he has been really interested in multiplication. He can now count by 2's, 5's, 10's and 100's. One morning last week I was practicing with him...

Me: What is 10x5? You can count by 10's, 5 times.
Evan: So... I have to count to 50?

He did it in his head that fast. It took Dallas and I by surprise and we just laughed :) He is so quick. And no Evan, you don't have to count to 50... if you can, just do it in your head :)

Evan definitely takes after his Daddy.

Daphne's blessing day

Daphne was blessed by her Father on November 27th. I am very grateful that we had family here with us for Daphne's blessing day. Daphne looked so beautiful and her dad gave her a sweet blessing. I am grateful for the gospel and how it blesses our life. I am grateful for a husband who is able to give our children blessings through the priesthood.

Daddy's girl

(I finally posted Halloween Pictures here.)

Daphne doesn't know it yet, but she is going to be a Daddy's girl. I insist that she is! The other two kids love their Daddy, but usually they come to their mom when the need someone. It would be fun for Dallas and nice for me if Daphne was a Daddy's girl!

I made Dallas pose for me :) Getting his picture taken is probably the last thing on his mind... Ever. But I love these, and I am so glad he let me take them. I think he is glad too. (Photos taken on November 12th.)

Lots of catching up

First up, we had visitors!! Last Saturday Dallas' sister and her family came to see us. We LOVE visitors (wink, wink) and the kids had a blast with their cousins. We showed them around town, even though it was cold and rainy most of the time. We went to the Celery bog, Happy Hollow Park, Tapawingo park, took a trolley ride through down town and campus, Columbian Park Zoo, and to Jump it. Dallas even took some time off, so it was like a mini vacation for us too.

Makiah pretended to be shy at first, but it didn't take long for her to open up. She was the one to order everyone around, and take her cousins hands and drag them from here to there. I really hope they didn't mind...

Dallas shivering with Chloe, Brandon and Candi...

Cute kiddos: Evan, Chloe, Sophie, and Makiah...

Makiah was thrilled when she saw that she and Candi had matching sweaters...

We had such a great time with them here! The morning they left, Makiah was too grumpy to give hugs goodbye. But as soon as they shut the door she said, "I want my cousins back!" They are missed very much!

Saturday was Dallas' Birthday. Evan has been counting down the days for over a month. He was disappointed when we decided to celebrate on Friday instead of Saturday. But we had fun anyway. We surprised Dallas and picked him up for work and took him to dinner. Then we came home and the kids insisted on hiding and "surprising" Dallas. Evan had decorated the house and wrapped up gifts for Dallas. We had a fun night with dessert and a movie with the kids :)

On Dallas' actual birthday we spent the day watching conference, enjoying a class for the kids at the hospital, and clothes shopping for the kids. Not Dallas' ideal birthday (though he loved conference and hearing about the new temple to be built in Star Valley Wyoming), but that is why we celebrated early :)

The class for the kids was fun, they loved taking care of their babies. They changed diapers, learned to swaddle and hold their babies. They also took a tour of the hospital and saw where mommy will have the baby. Makiah asked if she could play with her baby doll when she came back. The instructor said yes... little did she know that Makiah will remember and ask for that doll next time we are at the hospital ;)
