I really should be doing other things...

...like laundry, dishes, sleeping... but I really don't want to :) Blah. I'd rather be blogging :)

Yesterday I randomly made Makiah this tutu and I just loooove it! Definitely a must have for every little girl... and for photographers :) It was so fun to take pictures of her in it. My sister emailed me these two links (link one and link two) a while back and I finally got around to making it. It was so easy! It took maybe 45 minutes or so and it cost less than 5 bucks. So worth my time. (I liked the second link and used it to make this tutu. I just used an elastic rather than a ribbon.)

One last picture... hahaha... Evan, you will never live this down :) I think he enjoyed the tutu more than Kiah did. He wanted to wear it so bad.

15 months old

Makiah is 15 months old :) She has been so much fun lately. I love it when babies get more and more independent. It is so fun to watch them figure things out. I guess she isn't a baby anymore. Man, time flies. She weighed 21 lbs 4 oz when we went to the doctor this week. Evan weighed 20 lbs 7 oz when he was 9 months old. She is just so small and I love it. I just can't get over this picture, the look on her face is just too sweet :) When she is all grown up I'll look back on this picture and wish I still had my baby girl.

Some of the things she is figuring out:

  • She is talking :) Her first words were: uh-oh, dog, truck and more. She tries to say many other things.
  • She is learning sign language. She says more, doctor (though she has no idea what it means, she just copies Evan), all done, and A (again, she copies Evan while she says "A" in her cute small voice). Oh, she also does motorcycle (thanks to Evan and Signing Time videos).
  • She folds her arms for prayers.
  • She follows directions (when she wants to).
  • Climbs up and down stairs with no help.
  • She is very social and isn't afraid of other people. She likes other moms and reaches out for them to hold her.
  • She loves to dance.
  • She likes makeup and other girlie things.
  • She teases Evan.
  • She is VERY dramatic :)

Pictures...

We got our family photos done on Wednesday this week and it was so much fun! My friend Kim Davis took our photos at the Tippecanoe Battlefield. It was so gorgeous that day and the fall leaves were amazing. I am getting so excited to see the pictures! It was hard coming home and not being able to load the pictures on my computer to see how they turned out. So yesterday we took our own pictures :) I put my favorites of Makiah on my photo blog. Here are some of them with our pumpkins.

Here is Evan "taking pictures." He was pretending to use a camera :)

Then we took a walk and the kids had fun running down a hill. Evan started it and Kiah thought it was so funny. I have tons of pictures of her laughing :) Kiah would run as far as she could and then just tumble down the rest of the hill. They had so much fun.

The Windy City...

We headed up to Chicago on Friday with the perfect weekend planned. We really need to stop planning... or at least come up with a backup plan. Of course things never go the way we want them to, especially in a crazy busy place like Chicago. Just out of curiosity for those of you from around here, how long does it take you to get to the temple? With and with out traffic? We drove for 5 hours on Friday... blah. Leaving on Friday was just a bad idea. Driving home without traffic took us 3 hours. Not to bad. I decided that I really don't like big cities. Stop and go traffic for miles on end just isn't my thing.

Waiting in traffic...

Kiah really was this happy in the car, she did great! Evan, not so much but he did sleep. When Kiah got tired at the end of the drive she started crying until she fell asleep. Everyone around us in the traffic jam just stared like they had never seen a crying baby before.

Saturday was a much better day then Friday. It is always nice to go to the temple. Dallas and I switched off with the kids so we were both able to enjoy a session. Dallas thinks (and is pretty sure) that President Monson's son was in the same session as him. He thought that was pretty neat. Lucky for us we saw our Bishop at the temple and he is a great photographer :) He took the top photo of our family. Makiah was sleeping in the car so she missed out on our cold photo shoot.

It was too cold to go to Lincoln Park zoo which was the original plan so we settled for IKEA. That place is huge! I should have taken a picture :) Utah's IKEA doesn't even compare :) I got some dishes for the kids and a train set for Evan's Christmas present (shhhh don't tell).

Pretty in Pink

Today I saw that my sister posted about how she pulled out the kiddie pool again this past week. 80 degrees in Utah! I thought it would be funny to post these pictures of Kiah in her new coat. The weather here is quite the opposite. Today it is pouring rain.to I really needed to get to the store today and I thought (as I looked out into the rain) maybe I could wait 15 minutes... then the rain will stop. Nope. Didn't happen. Only in Utah would that happen. It hasn't stopped raining and that was 3 hours ago. Needless to say I ventured out into the rain, with two children, and got soaking wet. Blah. The weird thing is, yesterday was a perfect fall day-beautiful. The day before, rain. The weather here is crazy! Anyway, all this cool weather got me excited. I had to pull out Kiah's cute coat and snap some pictures. Thanks Mom for the cute coat, she loves it!

Ward Dance

I am taking advantage of Kiah's nice long nap to catch up on my blogging. There has been a lot going on! I am on the Activities Committee in our ward and we had our Fall Social on Friday. It was a chili cook off and family dance. The chili cook off has become a tradition in our ward each fall and everyone takes it very seriously. Dallas entered his chili this year and he did a great job, I love his chili. Unfortunately he didn't win, the competition was tough :) The dance turned out to be a success, we were kind of worried no one would enjoy it but it was great! We even had a DJ who did a fabulous job, he made the night so much fun! Evan and Kiah loved to dance and did very well staying up late so we could clean up. It was a fun night :)

Just as a side note, it is so cold!!! We are having to turn our heat on at night so we don't freeze. Darn winter is creeping up on us too soon this year. Our weather is so random... just yesterday was sunny and beautiful and then we woke up to rain :( I. Am. Not. Ready. For. This.
