Goodbye

Fish.
Fun right?
Ummmm.
I got kinda sick of them. Yeah, I know... I am no fun.
I told Dallas that I wouldn't be cleaning out the bowl... that's his job.
So every time it got dirty... I threatened to dump them out in the pond. Yeah, I know... I am no fun.
After a year of threatening to dump them into the pond, I asked the kids if we could give them away and they said yes!
So I gave them away.
And Makiah cried.
We are over it now.
I think.

They were good little fish.
Dallas and the kids will miss them... and I probably won't.
But that is ok.
If I had my choice in a pet, it would not be anything in a tank. I think I would choose a bird :) A love bird to be exact. Maybe I will get my way next time...

Just because I haven't posted these yet...

The fishies are alive and well. I am sure you were all wondering. The kids still haven't gotten bored of them (which surprises me), they love to feed them and watch them all the time.

I am sure you are also wondering why I haven't posted lately... well. yes. this is just about as exciting as my life gets some days...

Just joking about that last line... We really have been busy. I feel like life is CRAZY right now and it will only get crazier as this year goes on. I am sure I will fill you all in on the craziness soon enough. It's nothing to keep you awake at night anxiously waiting to hear from me on this blog. Just stuff. Life. You know.

I have had no time for pictures lately. That makes me sad. I think I will go take some pictures now... it has been way too long.

Speaking of pictures... winter is coming to an end! Yeay! I am looking forward to booking photography sessions again... As soon as this weather starts really warming up I will be doing outdoor sessions again. I am also available now for indoor sessions with newborns and babies. Or if you are brave and want a portrait session out in the cold I can arrange that as well (Maternity, couples, etc). If you are wanting family portraits I will be waiting until it is nice and warm out! Let me know if you are interested and I can schedule you in if you'd like :) Oh and be sure to check out my photography blog for details and information.

Something's fishy...

Almost two weeks ago we were on our way to the "Big Store" (Walmart) and Evan said:

Evan: I want to buy a fish.
Me: What would you do with a fish?
Evan: Put it on my side table.
Me: But what would you put it in?
Evan: A bowl with water.

I told him he could look at the fish but he had to earn one if he wanted to buy one. From then on out he was determined to get his fish.

This was the first time he has ever asked us for a pet of his own.... and since then he told me that we needed to move. To a house with a fence. So we could buy a dog. Yes a dog. Sorry Dallas, he is pretty determined.

Though Dallas isn't to fond of the idea of a dog, he was excited about the fish idea. I told him that I wouldn't mind having a fish, but I had two requests: 1. Dallas gets to clean the bowl. 2. We needed to buy a "cute" bowl for the fish.... so I can take some fun pictures of course!

We made a chart for Evan and Kiah and told them that if they could go to bed quietly for 10 days straight, then they could get a pet fish. It worked wonders. Evan went straight to bed each night and couldn't wait to put a sticker on the chart the next morning. Kiah played along, but had two nights where she didn't go to sleep right away. On the first night after they fell asleep Dallas said, "why didn't we do this a long time ago?"

10 Days later we ended up with two new little friends...

And I have to admit they are pretty cute.

Evan and Kiah love to feed them (I already had to clean out the bowl... they put in a little too much food this morning, go figure), talk to them and read them stories.

We are in the works of finding them names. Kiah's is the white and gold one and she likes the name Kiki (from the show The Fresh Beat Band... don't ask.) Evan want's to name his Carly... but Kiah wants him to name it Shout (from The Fresh Beat Band...) We'll see what he decides.
