5 months old

Yesterday Daphne was being so sweet. She refused to nap because she just wanted to play. She heard the kids in the other room and let out a little scream as if she is trying to get their attention. When they came to see her she just kicked and screamed happily. She just loves the kids so much, and wants to be with them all the time. She fits in with our little family so well, I just love it. She tries to "talk" to us by letting out these cute screams, when we do it back she just keeps going. It's like we are having a little conversation with her and she loves it. The whole time I took these photos Daphne was "talking" with me :)

Some of the things Daphne can do at 5 months...

Scoot backward
Roll across room
Just a week ago she would try to get up on her knees and know she can do it!
Reach and play with anything she can get her hands onto
Jabbers and screams (happy screams) all the time
Loves it when the kids talk and play with her
Laugh when tossed in the air or when daddy plays with her
She gets distracted easily when drinking her bottle, she would rather play
Sleep through the night... most of the time
Fall asleep on her own... most of the time

Easter 2012

On Saturday we were invited to an Easter egg hunt with friends. We had a great time and it was such a pretty morning... no rain this year!

On Sunday we had our own egg hunt and the kids were excited that the Easter Bunny left them some fun toys (a T-ball set and a bubble blower!). That evening after church we had a few families that we are friends with come over for dinner. It was SO nice. I love that we were able to spend Easter with such great people, it really made the day so much better than it would've been. Holidays are always hard when I know that family out west are all getting together... and we are here alone. Having good friends to spend Easter with definitely made up for that!

Here is my attempt at getting a photo with the three kiddos. Daphne sure looked cute that day :) The photo is as good as it gets though.

Lark's Visit

Dallas' sister Lark came to see us during her spring break! It is always so exciting when we have family come to see us. We had a good time while she was here. The kids love her and talk about visiting her again in Utah. Here are some of the things we did while she was here...

Tour around Purdue (we were oh so lucky to run into the Zombie War going on that day... crazy).

Celery Bog.

Tapawingo park, pedestrian bridge, train station and down town Lafayette.

Clegg Botanical Gardens

Something I love about Indiana is the fact that we don't have to drive far to get to places like this. We may not have mountains, but we have woods everywhere and so many pretty places to walk!

Campfire in our backyard :)

Lark brought the kids books and they loved them, they also loved having Lark read to them (lots and lots!).

Lark's birthday was this month, so we got to celebrate with her :)

We miss you Lark!

Daddy's boy

The wheels in Evan's mind are constantly turning. He wants to learn everything and all at once. He is really good with numbers (where did he get that I wonder...?) and so naturally math just clicks for him. He learned to count by 5's when Dallas taught him to tell time. So sometimes we'll ask him "What's 3x5 or 5x5" and he can figure it out. Sometimes he uses his fingers and sometimes he does it in his head.

These past few weeks he has been really interested in multiplication. He can now count by 2's, 5's, 10's and 100's. One morning last week I was practicing with him...

Me: What is 10x5? You can count by 10's, 5 times.
Evan: So... I have to count to 50?

He did it in his head that fast. It took Dallas and I by surprise and we just laughed :) He is so quick. And no Evan, you don't have to count to 50... if you can, just do it in your head :)

Evan definitely takes after his Daddy.
