Utah trip

I just got back to Indiana late Thursday night after visiting family in Utah. Makiah and I flew out on the 10th and got to stay for 10 days. I helped my Mom get ready for Joel and Alison's Open House (They got married on the 7th in Oklahoma). It turned out perfect even after worrying about the weather all week (it was supposed to rain but didn't ). I took lots of pictures but they were with my Mom's camera so I don't have all of them on my computer yet. I left my camera at home for Dallas to use (but of course he didn't even take one picture.... surprise, surprise...) I got to finally meet Alison and she is a cute girl. I am lucky to have such sweet in-laws. I wish that I lived closer so I could get to know her more.

I also helped my dear little sister Bethany get ready for school. The day after the Open house we packed everything, loaded up the truck and headed off to Snow College. I was kinda jealous in some ways... those good old college days are some of my best memories! I miss those days a lot. I hope she is having a blast. When we were unpacking one of her neighbors asked if we were twins, that made me feel good considering I am 6 years older than Bethany. It would have been tons of fun if we did go to college together!

I got to meet my sweet little niece, Demi. She is 2 months old now and she is a cutie. She looks a lot like her sister Sophie. She also looks a little like Makiah. It was fun to hold a little baby again, Makiah is getting so big! Demi was blessed the day after the open house (just to add to all the fun we had that weekend).

All the girls on the blessing day :)

Bethany took this picture of Makiah and I and I love it :)

Random picture that I just love! My beautiful neice, Sophie

Makiah sure was a mama's girl on the trip! When I wasn't around she would go straight for Grandma. She loves her grandparents and would go to them with open arms. My Dad just ate that up! Evan wasn't like that when he was little. We also got to see Dallas' parents, Candi and family and Shane and family (who hadn't met my kids yet). It was fun for Makiah to have so much attention. She got along really well with everyone considering we were only with them for a few hours. Again, she loved her grandparents!

I think Makiah's favorite part of the trip was my parents' dogs. She learned to say woof woof and would say it whenever she saw the dogs. My parents got a doberman (Carly) and she is one big dog. After Kiah got used to getting knocked down by Carly she learned to love her and couldn't get enough of her. It was funny to see little Kiah walk right up to this huge dog and then see Sophie run away screaming. We'll have to get Kiah her own dog one of these days, she loves them so much.

Makiah did okay on the plane, but she really didn't like it at all. On the way out there she cried and screamed for a good 25 minutes but then fell asleep for the rest of the flight. On the way home she got all wound up as we were loading the plane. Thankfully she remember that she hadn't napped all day and she fell asleep during take off. She didn't even cry :) She did make up for that on the car ride home from the airport. Makiah and Evan were sure happy to see each other when we got back. We got home after midnight but that didn't even matter. They still played and got out all their toys... I was so ready for bed!

It was so nice to see my boys after being away for so long. Being away from Dallas that long sure made me appreciate him so much more. It is nice to come home to someone who loves me and I missed that so much while I was gone. Evan seemed to have grown so much while I was gone. He is growing up so fast. I think they had a good time together while I was gone. Evan sure loves his Dad.

We all have a big week to look forward to, Dallas starts school tomorrow! We have been here for one year already which is hard to believe. Dallas is also teaching his own class this semester. I think he will do a great job, he loves to teach. On top of all that he also picked up a side job and so he will be quite busy with everything he has to do. I am also going to be working which will be a fun change around here. It will only be for a couple months though. I will be assistant coaching a 7th grade volleyball team at Central Catholic middle school. I start tomorrow and I am really excited!

It looks like you had so much fun at home. And I like all of your swing set pictures. It brought back memories for even me! I loved playing on them. And... people always think that Colleen and I are twins. We get it a lot infact! And yet she is 6 years older than me just like you and Bethany. It is funny!
