Little ones

I had some random things about my kids that I needed to write down before I forgot. So, here I go...

Evan is just silly, he talks and talks. I love it! Last week I was sitting on the couch with him and he was drawing on his magna doodle. Then he said, Look Mom! A "H"! I looked and he had drawn the letter H! So now he loves to draw the letter H. He also tries to draw other letters, E, O, and C are the ones that he has gotten down. He loves his letters and he sings the ABC's often.

Lately he likes to tell me where to go while we are driving in the car. It used to be because he knew where we were going... to church... to the library... etc. and he just likes to tell me the way. Now he wants me to go in the opposite direction that we need to go. I guess he thinks he is silly. Last Saturday we were driving and when we stopped at a stop light he said, "My go this way to fix my car." (as he points where we should go) He could see a gas station and he insisted that we go fix our car :) Now he says that every time we see a gas station.

Evan loves my new camera, too bad I won't let him touch it :) But he will pose for me... I love those blue eyes!

Makiah... where to start :) I guess I should say that since I've started working she has gotten very clingy. She flips out if I leave the room. When I am in the room she is literally hanging on me. She had a rough week last week with teeth coming in so I am sure that is part of it. Also, she must be growing because she won't stop eating. To top it all off there is no bottle to soothe her because I stopped giving it to her :) yeay! (for me)

The good thing about me working is that she has really gotten close to her dad. She loves it when he comes home! Lucky Dallas gets to be with the kids from 2:30 on just about everyday. He is a great dad.

A funny and cute story about Kiah: Last week during all the teething drama none of us got much sleep. One night I finally went downstairs (after listening to her cry for sometime) and I got her a snack. She wouldn't eat the animal crackers I gave her she just held on tight to them. At least they calmed her down, so I took her back to bed with me. She snuggled right up and I thought she was asleep until I heard her eating her crackers. Talk about a nice midnight snack in bed :)

It sure is nice to know that my kids love each other. Evan is always giving Kiah hugs, so cute :)

Drum roll please...

Look what I was finally able to buy!!!! I am soooo very excited for this to come in the mail! We had some extra money saved up and my sweet husband agreed that this would be a great *investment* for me :) After I decided which camera I wanted I got really excited... I couldn't even fall asleep because I kept thinking about it. Then the next day I was finding every reason why it was a bad idea. I was having a hard time justifying a reason why I really needed it. I guess no one really needs a camera... Well it came down to the fact that maybe I don't need it, but it's okay to have something you want every now and then... right? :)

Picnic time

We went on a walk at Happy Hollow park on Friday morning with some friends. I love this park so much! We walked up one of the trails and then played at the playground. We joined Melissa and her kids for a picnic and the kids were being so silly! They all get along so well and always have fun together. I thought it was cute that the girls were both wearing yellow and the boys were wearing blue- random :)

Carly, Evan, Joseph and Makiah

I love love love this picture so much! They were laughing so hard when I took it. To bad they had food in their mouths (I think it is cute anyway).

Kiah loves the slides, and she laughs the whole way down every time. She would climb up all by herself and go down on her belly. Silly girl.
One of the many pictures of Evan on a slide, I think this is my favorite of them all :) His blue eyes are so bright!

Off to School

I started a Joy School with some friends and this was our first week. Evan was so excited all weekend. On Monday morning I told him that his friends were coming to our house for school. He told me that he wanted to ride in the car to school. I guess it was hard for him to understand that school can be at our house too :) Even though we were not going anywhere I still let him wear his backpack. He looked so cute :) The top left picture is my favorite. Of course he couldn't hold still long enough for me to take his picture, he looks like he is laughing. When he saw it he said: "Is Evan so sad?" for some reason he thought that he was crying in the picture.

Here are all the cute kids that come to Joy School: Evan, Molly, Benjamin, and Amy. They are all becoming good friends and we had a lot of fun this week. They love music and singing songs. On the first day they all started playing the piano together, I love the picture in the middle! They are all so cute!

Next week they get to have school at Amy's house. I think that will be good for Evan to be able to go somewhere new each week. Winters are long and cold around here and this will be a good pass time for him :)

Lately...

It's been nice and crazy around here lately. I mentioned earlier that this semester was going to be busy for all of us, and it really is. Dallas is juggling classes, teaching a probability class, consulting, and being Mr. Mom while I am at "work." I say "work" because it really isn't too much work, just a lot of fun! I am coaching a volleyball team and I am really loving it. The girls are 7th graders but a lot of them have some experience and they have been doing really well. The kids are used to me leaving, I guess, Makiah is funny about it though. When I am at home I can't even leave the room without her crying. She also likes to be held a lot. When I do leave she is usually fine, even on Thursdays when there is a babysitter. When I get home she bolts for the door and then cries if I don't pick her up immediately. I think it is nice for them to be with their dad everyday. Dallas claims that he is now the "Mom" even though it's only for a few hours in the afternoon.

Makiah is having a hard time napping... any suggestions? She usually goes to sleep just fine but then a half an hour later she wakes up. I usually make her cry it out and she'll sleep for another half hour. That isn't enough though, the rest of the day seems to drag when she is grumpy. I think the main problem is that she is scared of any loud noises (the garbage truck in particular:)). Today I put music on for her in her room, I'll see if that works...

Next week I am starting a joy school for Evan with some of his friends. I am getting really excited :) I have been worried about the summer ending and Evan getting bored out of his mind when we can't go outside everyday. He is excited to have "school" with his friends :)

Here are some pictures of some fun things we've been doing since I've been back home...

August 21: Fire Station
Evan wasn't as excited as I thought he would be about visiting the Fire Station... He didn't really want anything to do with it:

Evan wouldn't come near the truck, even for a picture

Kiah loved the dog, of course
At least I got him to sit on the fire truck
I think Evan's favorite part was when the firefighters got a call and left with the sirens blaring :) That's what he wanted to see. After we sat on the truck he insisted on going home, so we did. Too bad because we missed out on getting our own firefighter hat :( That's okay, maybe next time.

September 4th: Columbian Park Zoo (We love coming here :))

Evan and Kensey

Play group

Kiah loved these guys!

Random Pics :)

In case you can't tell they are all watching a movie... I thought it was cute how they all lined up and sat by each other :)

My sisters rock :)

The day that I got to Utah (last month) was a loooong one. I woke up at 4am (Eastern time) and didn't get to bed till 11pm (Mountain time) So I was awake for about 21 hours straight. This is what happens when you are dead tired but too excited to be home to even think about sleep...

The pictures say it all... we have tons of fun together :)

Shannon, Bethany, Me, and Cami (Where was Jillian?)

Ninja girls

I don't know why but we started taking these random pictures and then we just kept getting crazier and crazier :) It was good to be home.

I've always been the short one of the bunch...

Bethany moved down to Snow College while I was home. I felt young again heading off to school, but this time it was Bethany's turn :)
