Heat wave

Last week was so hot and humid. We spent almost every morning before it got too hot playing outside on the playground. Then we would spend the rest of the day inside or out back playing in the water. On Tuesday after we played outside I put Kiah down for a nap and Evan started watching a movie, then he fell asleep too. Kiah woke up and I gave her a bottle and it wasn't too long until she was asleep again. That was a great afternoon :) Evan almost slept for four hours and Kiah plays so well when she has nobody picking on her. So I got a lot of time to myself :)

We really got to get these kids a pool. Hopefully this week we'll be able to. Until then the bowls and cups will have to do...
On Friday We went to campus to play in the fountain with some friends, I really wish I would have brought my swimming suit too! The kids had a lot of fun...
Well this one didn't have as much fun, she is still needing that morning nap :)

I thought this was a fun picture.
On Friday night it felt so nice! One of the many things I miss about Utah is the cool summer nights. Nights here have been stuffy and humid, but on Friday night when I went outside I could breathe! Dallas and I spent our night outside watching the fireflies which was really cool. I tried to get a picture with no luck.
We decided that we had to take advantage of the nice dry weather so the next morning we went to Tapawingo Park. It was a perfect day! (I posted more pictures from this day HERE)
We spotted this little guy on our walk
This is why I love Indiana (and one of the reasons why I put up with the humidity). It's so green!
I've got to post these pictures too, Kiah and Evan got to lick the beaters yesterday after I made a no bake pie, yum! She was sure sad when she was done. One more thing THIS is really funny, take a minute and watch it :) Dallas even had a good laugh.

Fathers Day

Man, today really was exhausting! These two kids were so wiggly and kinda cranky. Poor Dallas trying to enjoy his day and we could barely listen to what was going on in church. I was hoping to get some cute pictures of Evan with his daddy, this was the best I could do :) Evan usually has other things on his mind rather than sitting nicely for a photo shoot.

Evan was being funny at dinner tonight. He was excited when we gave him mashed potatoes with gravy but then all that was forgotten when I gave him dressing on the side. He loved the dressing and didn't want anything to do with the potatoes. We told him he could have more "bread" after he tried one bite of the potatoes. Ha ha ha. He did not want the potatoes, but we were strong and we put our foot down. I finally put a dab of potatoes in his mouth to see if he might decide that he wanted to eat them after all. Bad idea. He was so upset and cried and cried. Then he got up and wiped out his mouth on a dish towel. I finally calmed him down and gave him a piece of the dressing (he did have some potatoes right?) Then he wanted more so I said he had to eat some potatoes first. And so he picked up his fork and took a bite of potatoes! Wow the distress that it brought only a minute before was forgotten :) Let's just say that he finished his meal with no more problems... until dessert :)

We did have the same problem, even with dessert! Oh Evan it's good! That is why it is called dessert. We had Pistashio pudding and I was trying to get Evan excited because it was green. I think the green got Evan a little nervous. I again dabbed a little in his mouth and then came the waterworks, but only for a second. Then he started to take little bites- I knew he would like it, he is just too picky!

In nursery today Evan made his Dad a card that had a chocolate kiss taped to it. To bad he didn't realize that it was supposed to be for his Dad. He was so excited about that kiss and so concerned everytime it fell off on the way to the car. Dallas was sweet and of course couldn't break Evan's heart by taking his kiss. Evan was very happy when he got to eat it at home and of course he wanted more. Maybe one day he'll understand this gift giving thing.

He must have been tired tonight. We tried to sing and read him books but he was just to cranky so we left him to work it out on his own. We started hearing him say "con-crete-mix-er!" so at least he was taking care of story time on his own with his car book. Kiah started to cry so we went in to try the bed time routine again. When we opened the door Evan was asleep in his bed with his car book in hand (it had to have only been 5 minutes or so since we left). Sleepy guy, I hope he has sweet dreams.

Makiah sure loves her Dad, and I think they are quite the pair...

I think (I don't know if Dallas would agree) that Makiah is trying to say Daddy. She says da da a lot these days and some times I wonder if it is directed at Dallas. She lights up when she see him and sure smiles and acts shy when he starts teasing her from across the room. Today Dallas started playing the piano and she bolted from the kitchen to join him. After Evan fell asleep tonight we brought her in our room to drink a bottle. She sure was happy to be with us. I know she loves to have our attention all to herself, and it's really cute to see her so happy! She played a round of peek-a-boo with Dallas and pointed to all the fun colors on my shirt and then she was off to bed. What a cutie! She loves to point and wave at everything these days. What a fun game that is for her! The first time I got her to wave was when we were saying good bye to my Dad. We visited Utah last month and Makiah and Grandpa Johnson sure got along! She sure spent a lot of time on Grandpa's lap and she loves him so much!

Busy little girl

Makiah is moving around so much and getting into everything. She loves to go outside to play. We've been trying to get some grass in our yard for her but I guess the cement doesn't hold her back!
She loves the pots and pans and she loves to get into all the cupboards. There isn't much stopping her these days. Maybe we should get those locks up now.

He will sleep anywhere!

Evan is almost two and a half and he defiantly shows it. I recently decided that I have to have dinner ready by 5:30. If I don't then I have two very whiny little ones hanging on my legs. There was one day last week that Evan decided that he wanted a piece of candy, but it was dinner time. So we told him no. Oh we are such mean parents. He started crying at the top of the stairs for this candy that he wanted and we left him there to pout. We really had no other choice, because once he gets his mind set on one thing nothing else matters! So as you can see he cried himself to sleep (we have the banana chair blocking the stairs for Makiah). This was one of those nights I wish I would have had dinner ready earlier.

On Sunday (June 13th) we were eating dinner (and it was early!). Evan wasn't very happy and he wasn't eating. He kept moaning. He told Dallas that he was sick so Dallas took him upstairs to our bed to lay down. Dallas asked Evan if he was sick and Evan said, "sick" so Dallas ask if it was his head or his belly and Evan said, "belly sick". Not too much longer Evan was sound asleep and he didn't wake up till the next morning.

Dallas was singing to Evan on Saturday and he started singing "We built this city on rock and roll" (yes Dallas is silly). Then Dallas wanted to get Evan excited for church the next day so he asked him "What are we going to do tomorrow?" and Evan said, "We rock and roll!"

All about our fun trip... and TONS of pictures :)

This ended up being long. I wanted to write about everything for journal purposes. If this is boring for you to read I am sorry. I hope you enjoy all the fun pictures (you can click on the pictures to make them larger).

Our trip out to Utah and Wyoming was fun and very long! We were almost gone for four weeks and we had the chance to see most of our family. We drove to Utah first to see my family. The kids did really well the first day in the car, but it took them forever to fall asleep that night. This is them the next morning, too bad we had to wake them for another loooong drive. My family threw me a birthday party after we got there which was tons of fun, I got to see everyone. They got me some fun clothes and a cute bag, thanks guys! My brother took us to see his new house that night which was really nice.
Dallas, Evan and I got to go to the Bees game the next night with my old roommate, Kristen. We had a blast. It was fun to hang out with Kristen. She and I also got to hang out with our other roommate Emily the next week. It had been awhile since we have all been together, it was so fun to talk about all the crazy things we used to do. I didn't have my camera that night :(It was fun hanging out with the family just like the old days... Sunday nights were always the best, hanging out outside. My Mom takes such good care of her yard and we all enjoy being out there during the summer. Evan loved to help plant flowers, and water them. He really is a good worker.
My Mom, my sister Cami, Evan and I all went to Gardener Village to shop. I've always loved it there. Here are some pics of my cute family...Dallas and I got the chance to go to the new Draper Temple and also the Mount Timpanogos Temple. It was so nice to be in an area surrounded by Temples! I loved to walk around the Temple grounds, it is so pretty at this time of year.I got to see my best friends from high school, Stephanie and Ashley. We went out to Teppanyaki for Steph's birthday and it was awesome!Evan had lot's of fun with his cousin Sophie... oh I wish we lived closer, they were so cute together! We went to Wheeler farm with some of my cousins and their kids. It was so fun seeing how big all their kids are getting! We went to Liberty Park on Memorial Day with Dallas' brother Jason, Shalee, and Eli. Evan and Eli had so much fun together, they are such good friends now. We found out that they are going to be having another baby this fall, we are excited :) That didn't stop Shalee from riding on the swings...Candi took us on a fun trail in Centerville. It was nice to be in the mountains again. Evan would not let go of that water bottle for anything!Evan and Kiah loved playing with Sophie and Chloe. We had a good time staying with them in Centerville. Evan got to go on a Field trip with Chloe's class and we had fun getting our family pictures taken. It was so nice to go back to Logan. We got to see my cousin Sara, Dallas' friend Travis, his sister Lark and his brother Ross who we haven't since before his mission. He left right before Evan was born and got home after Makiah was born. It was nice to finally have him meet our little family. We also got to see Clare and Trevor, and Shawn from our old ward. It is so nice to see old friends!Next we got to hang out with the Bateman's at Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. We took some family pictures in the Sunken Gardens before we swam. It was very pretty there! Evan loves "swimmin" as he says, and Kiah loved it too.Grandma and Grandpa Bateman took us to Tauphtaus Park to see the zoo in Idaho Falls. The monkeys sure liked people and Evan really liked them a lot. He also loved the lion drinking fountain a little too much. Now this is the way to eat ice cream! We got to celebrate Cathy's Birthday while we were visiting. DQ ice cream cake is a Bateman favorite. We got to meet our new nephew James. I thought he looked just like his brother Tyson, he was a cutie! We spent our last week in Star Valley. It was fun being with Dallas' family and going to the zoo. We enjoyed being outside helping with yard work and four wheeling. It was so sad to say goodbye :( We left on June 4th and headed of to Winter Quarters. We stopped there for a day before we went home.It was sure nice to come home after being a way for so long. But it was so nice to spend so much time with everyone. The other day Evan asked if we could go to Grandma's house. I wish we could jump in the car and go any time. I am glad Evan got the chance to get to know everyone. He is finally at an age where he remembers names and people so well and he misses everyone. Makiah had a hard time with other people before we left but now she does so well. She loves to sit with her Grandpa Johnson, they became such good friends! It was sad to go.
